I was the girl who loved textiles but was told that it was “just a hobby.” So I pushed my passion aside.
And in its place came a quiet emptiness.
I did what I thought I was supposed to do: I worked hard, followed the rules, and tried to be a “good” woman, mother, and partner. But under the surface, I felt lost and broken. Some of the stories that I had absorbed from my family, culture, movies and media left me with shame, confusion, and disconnection.
My creativity suffered. My body felt numb. And I couldn’t talk to my teens about sex because I hadn’t yet found the words to describe my own experience of it.
Worse still, my silence created confusion and distance in my closest relationships. I simply didn’t have the knowing in my body or the emotional tools to express what I needed. Not to my partner. Not to my kids. Not even to myself.
Then, something shifted.
I learned to weave without any rules, meaning that I simply delighted in choosing the colours, texture and patterns that I loved without the destination of an end result. Through creative practice and pleasure-based embodiment work, I reawakened sensation, meaning, and joy. I began to reconnect to the sensation of feeling alive in my body.
Soon, I found myself drawn to deeper study and support. I trained with Dr. Saida Désilets, the founder of the modern day Jade Egg Movement and a visionary world leader of sexual sovereignty. After 6 years of dedicated practice and learning, I received the certification of Embodied PsychoSexual Practitioner.
Along the way, my passion for the Embodied PsychoSexuality Method merged with my lifelong love of textiles to bring the 4D Pleasure Anatomy Model to life. It’s designed to spark the kinds of conversations about pleasure and sex that I wish I’d had, both as a teenager and as a parent.
Crafted with care and intention, this handmade textile model of pelvic anatomy is an invitation to explore, understand, and connect with the body in a deeply human way. Designed to provide an experiential approach to sex education, this soft and interactive model encourages learning through touch, fostering curiosity, respect, and empowerment.
In a world that constantly pushes us toward numbness or productivity, choosing to prioritize pleasure is radical because it opens new possibilities for how we live, love, make, and relate.
Pleasure isn’t frivolous. It’s the compass for meaning and aliveness.
If you’ve been feeling disconnected from your body and unsure about how to feel more like yourself again, start here. You don’t have to be fixed. You just have to come home.
Redefining pleasure as ease or a regulated nervous system or whatever word feels right to you is a powerful beginning. When we are regulated, we are more able to know not just what we don’t want but what we do want.
Tracking pleasure is essential and when you get to know how to pay attention to sensation, it points us toward our deeper YES and equally important our NO.
My work weaves together creative practice and embodied education. Whether we’re exploring the 4D Pleasure Anatomy Model, stitching inner knowing into fabric, or moving together in breath and presence, my desire is to help you feel more connected, capable, and alive.
If you're anxious about reconnecting with your body, I can offer you these promises:
I won’t see you as broken, only powerful. We will only go as fast as your slowest part.
Together, we will explore the creative process, where we acknowledge where you’ve been, where your heart longs to go, and what steps can help you find your way.
But most importantly, I walk this path alongside you. I trust in what becomes possible when you get curious and choose what makes you feel alive.
test your sex ed knowledge
In the second pandemic winter, I experienced profound changes that were interfering with my functioning as a health care worker, mother and spouse. The one thing that has, in retrospect, made the most impact for me was studying the Jade Egg Essentials with Lesley Joiner.
Because of the [course work] and group sessions provided by Lesley, I was able to awaken "extra energy", enough to initiate a self-care plan to feel strong and capable again, and get back on track with emotional self-regulation, intentionally making space for fun and pleasure.
Lesley's lived experience, education and absolute passion for this critical work clearly inspire her to provide a unique and immensely empowering client experience.
NOT ONCE DID I FEEL ANY JUDGMENT.
[Lesley] helped to show me how to redefine crude, narrow, and conservative terms and definitions with a different perspective that harnesses a kinder, more meaningful insight to taboo topics that carry an unjust societal shame.
In the beginning, I bounced plenty of questions around the topic of sex and relationships, both inside and outside of the bedroom. Not once did I feel any unwillingness to share, as Lesley creates such a safe and warm space for learning and healing.
